Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education
School of Education, University at Albany

The Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the area of mathematics education. Our department has established strengths in teacher education, literacy, STEM education, learning sciences, and educational technology (https://www.albany.edu/etap)  To advance these strengths, we are seeking a scholar in innovative research on mathematics learning.

 

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A Ph.D. in learning sciences, teacher education, or curriculum and instruction with a specialization in mathematics education from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 2023
  • Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
  • A record of, or demonstrated potential, for research that addresses critical issues in mathematics education
  • Applicants must address their plan and ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities including in-person, online, and/or hybrid
  • Teaching experience in a secondary education school or closely related setting
  • Experience and evidence of collaborative work with colleagues and other partners

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Mathematics teaching experience in a secondary education
  • Experience with instructional design that addresses educational disparities and social inequities in STEM
  • A record of research on educational applications of artificial intelligence, data analytics, or other transformative technologies
  • A record of, or strong potential for obtaining grants to fund research and programs
