The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of CNS/pediatrics. It is required that the candidate has 10 + years of experience working with protons as well as a national and international reputation in proton therapy. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. American Board of Radiology Board Certification.

Teaching responsibilities may include mentoring physicians in the use of photons across all disease sites, as well as the teaching, training and mentoring of radiation oncology residents, medical physics residents, medical physics graduate students, visiting physics residents or trainees from other institutions or other countries, etc. Other informal and formal teachings include, but are not limited to participating in resident didactic series, both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant.

Clinical responsibilities may include treatment on various disease sites, the evaluation and management of patients diagnosed with cancer, and the delivery of proton therapy. Clinically, this position will assume the the role of Director of Protons and work collaboratively with the Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) and will help guide/develop proton strategies with international partners.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing and leading prospective clinical trials, translational FLASH radiotherapy research, with expertise in CNS tumors. This position will provide the opportunity to also serve as a research leader in the design of protocols and in pioneering uses of proton therapy. Research responsibilities will also include serving as primary Investigator in multi-institutional randomized trials for protons versus photons.

Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and medical students. Penn Medicine delivers a broad range of radiation therapy services to its patients, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, partial breast irradiation, and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS/SBRT using Gamma Knife /Cyberknife/Varian Linac). Patients will also have access to proton therapy at the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, housing the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room. Penn Radiation Oncology is not only committed to delivering high-quality radiation therapy, but also to enhancing and improving upon the patient experience by providing a full range of clinical services.
