Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Assistant to the Director of Human Resources This is a 12-month, full-time exempt position. Jarvis Christian University is an equal opportunity employer. As a condition of employment, you must submit to a background check and be able to work in the United States.


• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel
• Experience with Paycom software is preferred
• Basic knowledge of labor laws
• Basic understanding of different types of employee benefits SKILLS:

• Detail-oriented and exceptional organizational skills
• Administrative writing and reporting skills
• Efficient and accurate data entry skills
• Strong and efficient at multi-tasking
• Positive attitude

• Strong grammar skills
• Must be a self-starter


• Compile maintain and update employee records (electronic and hard copy)
• Resolve complaints and grievances
• Supports the HR department by screening and coordinating interview processes
• Provides orientation for new employees by providing employee benefits, company policies, and obtaining signatures as needed/required.
• Provide professional responses to inquiries concerning benefits, salaries, and other related questions.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Process unemployment claims
• Process worker's compensation claims
• Assist in conducting OSHA inspections
• Assists employees in navigating the FMLA processes
• Collect and process mail
• Update and maintain HR databases
• Maintain employee records (electronic/hard copy)
• Assist in reviewing and updating company policies
• Liaise with external partners (insurance etc.,)
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Jarvis Christian University Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual.

• Honesty, integrity, and treating others with respect are expected at all times.
