The Science Lab Specialist position is a 12-month professional non-exempt position with an anticipated start date of September 2022, but a different start date may be negotiated. The successful candidate will prepare and facilitate laboratories with appropriate set up including equipment, instruments, and displays for student instruction; maintain the cleanliness of lab equipment and areas; prepare solutions, media, and bacterial cultures as needed; maintain material safety and data sheets for all substances used by the department in compliance with OSHA standards; handle hazardous materials and waste in accordance with rules and laws associated with hazardous waste; and ensure all lab equipment and materials are maintained in operating condition. This position reports to the Department Head, Natural Sciences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in biological, physical, or natural sciences. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
ANNUAL SALARY: $32,550.00 ($16.70/HOUR)
