Position Description

Performs supervisory and coordinative work in the operation of a specific program or departmental project. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

Knowledgeable in insurance policy, rules, and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people.

Ability to understand and follow instructions. Interact with co workers, patients, and insurance companies in a professional and positive manner.

Ability to work effectively in a high volume, high productivity environment.

Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Ability to communicate accurate amount of payment expected by the department to patient.

Position will verify eligibility and benefits for all patients seen in Urology clinic.

Position is responsible for obtaining authorizations for patients having procedures done in the clinic and or hospital as well as patients having any type of diagnostic radiology at a facility. This will be accomplished by fax, website, and or phone calls to insurance company.

Multi-tasking is imperative in order to finish other assignments while on hold with insurance company. Open and frequent communication with Physicians, Nursing staff, PSS staff, Coding staff, and supervisor is expected.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation plus five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; additional related education may exchange for required experience on a year for year basis.
