MC Patient Services Specialist


Position Description

This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the flow in a correctional facility medical clinic.  Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for preparing necessary paperwork before patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may be responsible for coordinating other clinic services, responding to requests for patient information, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees in this classification receive general supervision. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to supervisor. Work is performed in a medical clinic setting in a correctional facility and may require a high degree of contact with patients, facility staff, and other partners.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Aligns with Values Based Culture and Behaviors
  • Responsible for monthly activity reporting
  • Receives and relay messages field routine questions for Administrative Offices.
  • Performs monthly QI audit and ensure compliance with ATC policy
  • Ability to work closely with and assist other staff members in a professional and courteous manner and relay appropriate information to Health Administrator as appropriate.
  • ACA Accreditation and ensures compliance with ACA regulations
  • Make copies as needed, scan and pull charts as requested
  • Responsible for quality assurance activities for clinical areas and evaluation of all Quality Assurance (QA, CQI and TQM) and Infection Control Activities
  • ORA Audit
  • Covers for back up other Special IV staff
  • Report non-functioning equipment to the proper person
  • Promotes economical use of supplies and equipment
  • Attends required staff meetings and in-services
  • Always demonstrates professional attitude towards clinic staff, physicians maintains calm professional demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Displays appropriate courteous attitude and behavior
  • Limits personal phone calls and public discussion of work related issues. Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality in all issues relating
  • Exhibits promptness and dependability by providing proper notification of absences or tardiness.
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Enters all daily work in computer.
  • Performs clerical duties for administration upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

One (1) year customer service, office, or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
