Position Description

This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions

Answer clinic phones using the Avaya system, provide customer service to anyone that calls or walks into the clinic, check patients in and out, take payments, make deposits, process prior authorizations, process referrals, schedule / reschedule patients, working knowledge of GE Centricity, working knowledge of Cerner (EMR), verify insurance for patients, work ETM pre-visit work flows, attend clinic meetings.
 

Occasional Duties

Travel to Internal Medicine clinics in Odessa or Midland; Cover for PSS staff in Midland or Odessa Internal Medicine Clinics; Answer phones in Midland / Odessa Internal Medicine Clinics via Avaya Phone System, other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual (Spanish), working knowledge of Centricity (IDX), working knowledge of Cerner (EMR), working knowledge of insurance verifications and referrals.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
