The Director of Student Success works collaboratively across all levels of the institution, providing strategic leadership for student services that deliver high impact experiences from new student enrollment to credential completion.

Position Summary |
Through a comprehensive, student centered approach, the Director will provide daily direction and leadership for advising and orientation staff, student success coaches, and On-Track staff. These offices play a significant role in our focus on increasing student satisfaction, success, retention, and graduation. The Director should be familiar with the challenges and barriers that community college students and their families face in preparing for college and be ready to help students overcome the obstacles in their path to postsecondary education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities |
- Provides leadership to multiple areas, including Advising, New Student Orientation, Success Coaches, and On-Track, developing a cohesive and integrated team, which will focus on high-quality programming and services to support student success.
- Directly supervise professional academic advisors, the Coordinator of Orientation, success coaches, On-Track staff, and student employees. This involves hiring, training, motivating, and managing so the team performs at the highest level possible, while also advancing the mission, vision, and goals of the College.
- Head a campus-wide advising program and coordinate the delivery of advising services with other campus programs (admissions, assessment, financial aid, , etc.) to provide seamless, responsive, quality, welcoming services for all students.
- Coordinate staff training, including designing and implementing professional development ensuring competency in all functions and understanding on department policies and procedures
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Academic Advising office, including creating work schedules to ensure adequate office coverage, managing front desk staff, and budget oversight
- Conduct annual, ongoing assessment, which informs and shapes future services to maximize student success and institutional effectiveness. Evaluate current trends and best practices in advising, orientation, and student success to ensure high quality onboarding, advising, and student engagement
- Support quality and impactful programming in all campus Pathways Centers by providing regular direction to Success Coaches, who in-turn provide daily direction within each Center.
- Partner with faculty and academic affairs leadership on strategic initiatives that contribute to the overall student experience
- Identify opportunities to create, improve and implement innovative student support services
- Collaborate with the Orientation staff to develop and execute New Student Orientation and New Student Welcome events
- Collaborate with other College departments to develop strategies to proactively monitor and assist at-risk students to identify opportunities to develop, support and improve academic success
- Advise students individually and in group sessions using prescriptive, developmental, and intrusive relationships to monitor student progress toward established educational goals
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Other Required Qualifications |
- Two years' prior experience successfully leading and building a team focused on best practices and having a positive impact on student success and retention
- Experience in serving diverse student populations
- Three years academic advising or student support services experience within a higher education setting

- Ability to sit and communicate orally, for extended periods of time
- Ability to safely maneuver up to 20 pounds unassisted
