Job Description:

The Payroll Benefits Specialist performs tasks and assignments related to premiums and invoice reconciliation of employee benefits and services offered to full and part-time employees. This position audits processed benefit premiums including, inputting data for various actions affecting pay and benefits ranging from optional deductions, major benefits, and open enrollment transactions; audits monthly premium statements for the College’s insurance policies; and maintains time off balance adjustments and leave payouts. The Payroll Benefits Specialist works with the College Human Resources Department to ensure accurate reporting of benefits to vendors. It is essential the selected candidate possess an understanding of the HIPAA federal law and apply it to work processes, as well as possess advanced mathematical skills for addition, subtraction, fraction, percentages, and balancing numbers and strong excel skills. This position reports to the Director, Payroll Services.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from an accredited institution with an Associate Degree and two years’ experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Accounting; or graduation from high school or GED equivalency and four years full-time experience in working within Business Administration.  Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

 

ANNUAL SALARY:  $32,550.00 ($16.70/hour)
