20110158FACJob Description SummaryEastern Oregon University (EOU) is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS). This is a full-time, nine-month appointment for the 2022-2023 academic year at the assistant professor rank.Candidates should demonstrate their teaching ability in terms of collaborative skills, willingness, and expertise to teach in our studios on EOU's main campus. EOU is particularly interested in applicants who want to assist our students in reaching their academic, professional and artistic goals. This is an on-campus appointment on EOU's main campus in La Grande, Oregon. The position would begin September 16, 2022.
Appointment is for one academic year, as a sabbatical replacement.
Compensation is based on the successful applicant's relevant teaching experience. This position comes with a generous healthcare package for both employee and all family dependents, paid holidays, paid sick time, state employee retirement pension, and other fringe benefits.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be a dedicated professional with an active studio practice.This position includes teaching courses in traditional darkroom photography, digital photography, graphics, and Foundations of Visual Literacy, as well as Junior capstone seminar.The candidate must be committed to ensuring that every student, faculty and staff member is a full member of the EOU community and that all community members recognize, promote and take advantage of the educational and cultural value of diversity.The typical teaching load at EOU is 36 quarter credits per academic year with an additional 9 credits dedicated to scholarship, service to the institution, and community outreach.

Evidence of working positively and successfully with colleagues in support of student learning.
Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
