Professor/Wyo Excellence Chair - School of Teacher Education (221386)

JOB TITLE:   

Wyoming Excellence in Higher Education Endowed Chair in Literacy Education  

JOB PURPOSE:   

This position will work to improve our already excellent graduate programs, further develop a rapidly growing doctoral program, expand opportunities for collaboration among faculty and students, increase extramural funding and scholarly productivity, expand outreach to the state, continue to develop the Literacy Research Center and Clinic that houses state of the art technology for virtual and in-house clinical activity in the state and beyond, and build an infrastructure for collaboration among national and international scholars on several focused lines of research. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Continue with an active scholarly line of inquiry and publication
• Seek extramural funding for research and development in literacy education
• Recruit and advise graduate students in literacy education
• Teach courses in the candidate's areas of expertise on campus and across Wyoming
• Provide leadership and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to continue the development of a nationally recognized program in literacy education
• Work collaboratively with the other Endowed Chair in Literacy, literacy faculty, and the LRCC staff to continue the development of the Literacy Research Center and Clinic
• Collaborate with faculty and departments across the UW campus
• Live in Wyoming and establish and maintain partnerships with professionals in public schools and non-governmental organizations in Wyoming

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

• An earned doctorate in literacy education or related field
• A well-established record of research and scholarship commensurate with the rank of advanced associate or full professor
• A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and advising graduate students
• A history of extramural funding
• A research agenda that includes expertise in adolescent literacy
• Teaching experience in grades 6 - 12
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
• Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Expertise or experience with professional development
• Literacy education for English learners or culturally diverse students
• Disciplinary literacy
• Evaluation and instruction of adolescents with literacy difficulties
• New literacies
• Leadership in program development and/or expansion
