Assistant Professor of Business and Accounting/Accounting and Management Emphasis
Baker University's Business and
Economics Department seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of business and accounting, beginning August 2023. Along with
a passion for undergraduate teaching and an appreciation for the role of the business curriculum in a liberal arts setting, a strong
candidate will have teaching expertise in accounting and management, along with other business topics. Strong candidates will also show
evidence of successful teaching and effective support and guidance for students pursuing internships, and display an eagerness to actively
engage with the Kansas City area business community. A master's level degree in business or a related field is required, along with
relevant work experience. CPA, CMA, and/or PhD preferred. Applicants should not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H-1B
visa status).
Founded by a Methodist bishop in 1858, Baker is the oldest university in Kansas. The Department is part of the
University's College of Arts and Sciences located in Baldwin City, Kansas (residential four-year campus). The Department offers majors
in Accounting, Business, Economics, International Business, and Sports Administration. The Department is also an important contributor to
the data analytics and pre-law interdisciplinary minor programs.
This position is tenure-track and at the assistant professor
rank. The full-time teaching load at Baker's Baldwin City campus is 4 + 4 (two-semester calendar). Eligible candidates will be
considered based on their (1) teaching experience, (2) demonstrated ability to foster student engagement and success, and (3) ongoing
professional learning.

to cover will depend on the candidate's experience and qualifications, but should overlap with at least some of the following topics:
Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Fundamentals of Management, Human Resource Management,
Ethics in Business, and possibly some advanced accounting, data analytics, or quantitative methods topics.
