Position Status: One-Year Appointment

Position Summary

The Marriage and Family Therapy MA Program of the Department of Psychology at La Salle University is seeking applications for a one-year appointment at the Assistant Professor level for the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member in La Salle's COAMFTE-accredited Marriage and Family Therapy MA Program. The position is a full-time, 9-month appointment with a teaching load of three courses per semester. The position begins in August 2022. There is additional compensation if the candidate teaches summer courses in excess of the academic year load.

The successful candidate must have completed a master's or doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field and be licensed or license-eligible as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Pennsylvania.

About the Psychology Department at La Salle University

The Psychology Department at La Salle University has about 600 undergraduate and graduate students and 20 full-time faculty. The APA-accredited Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) Program in Clinical Psychology has over 115 students. The Psychology Department also has two accredited Master's level programs: a COAMFTE-accredited M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and a CACREP-accredited M.A. in Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC). The undergraduate program consists of nearly 300 majors and over 100 minors.

Essential Duties
  • Teaching 3 courses per semester in the Marriage & Family Therapy and/or Professional Counseling MA Program during the academic year.
  • Evaluating Written and Oral Comprehensive Examinations.
  • Serving on committees in the program and department.
  • Academic advising of students.
  • Other tasks related to the academic functioning of the program, department, college, and university.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have successfully completed a master's or doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Strong record of teaching, preferably marriage and family therapists or similar in training.
  • Identification with the profession through professional memberships, scholarly activity, or professional service.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
  • Multicultural competence and training.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.
  • Completion of a master's, doctorate, or post-graduate COAMFTE-accredited program.
  • Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Pennsylvania.
  • Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
  • Graduate teaching experience.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

Evening hours will be required, since the MA Program courses run 4:30-7pm & 7:30-10pm in the Fall/Spring and 6-9:30pm in the Summer.

Other MA Program activities (e.g., Orientation, Diversity Forum, Honor Society Events) are also held on weekday evenings.
