Position Details:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at in the College of Arts and Sciences Washington State University in Pullman, WA, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position as a Teaching Assistant Professor - Career with a focus on mathematics education, beginning August 16, 2022. This is a full-time, nine-month, initial three year fixed-term appointment with opportunities for renewal as well as promotion to higher rank.

Summary of Duties:

The responsibilities of this position include teaching (80%) and service (20%):
  • Teaching four courses each semester during the academic year through the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, especially teacher preparation courses and foundational courses.
  • Participating in department committees and department faculty meetings.
  • Working collaboratively, respectfully, and productively with other faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's or Ph.D.in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with some experience teaching in K-12 at the time of appointment.
  • Evidence of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate mathematics courses
  • Demonstrated ability and/or potential to support mentor, and educate students from diverse backgrounds including those who identify with historically and systemically under-served and excluded groups.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or potential to contribute to WSU's inclusion, diversity, equity and access goals
