Job Description

Brewton-Parker College currently seeks to fill a full-time position on the mathematics and natural sciences faculty in the area of biology for the health professions, scheduled to begin in the 2023 spring semester. Salary and academic rank will be determined commensurate with academic credentials, experience, and other factors.

The College: Brewton-Parker College, tracing its origin to 1904, is a four-year, coeducational Christian comprehensive college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, offering twenty-four areas of undergraduate study to a diverse population of about 800 students in the micropolitan setting of Mount Vernon/Vidalia in the South-Central region of Georgia. As a Georgia Baptist institution, Brewton-Parker affirms the supremacy of Christ and expects members of the faculty and administration to model Christian values before the students, in their professional activities, and in their lives.

Duties and Qualifications: To begin January 1st, 2023, faculty duties will include teaching a variety of biology courses in the health professions, including majors in biology, nursing, and sport and exercise science, as well as in the general education core. Duties also will include assisting in lab preparation, student advisement, service on college committees, and other responsibilities of the full-time faculty.

Qualified candidates must hold at least a master's degree in the field of biology (with a concentration in health professions), or a degree in an allied discipline with at least a graduate concentration (18 semester hours) in the required teaching discipline. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the level of experience and expertise needed to teach at the collegiate level. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of secondary- or college-level teaching experience in the field, as well as to those who hold a terminal degree.
