Job Description:

The Engineering Department at Maritime College, State University of New York, is seeking to fill an electrical engineering faculty position. The Assistant or Associate Professor position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment. The Maritime College electrical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and is focused on electric power engineering. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Teach core electrical engineering courses, especially electrical power systems to electrical engineering majors and service courses in electrical engineering to non-majors in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Professional/industrial experience in electrical power systems, digital, or mixed-signal electronics is highly desirable.
  • Faculty will also be expected to conduct applied research in electrical engineering and serve on college committees.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a closely allied field together with previous academic or industrial experience is required for the Associate Professor Rank. A reasonable expectation of timely completion of a Ph.D. is required for the Assistant Professor Rank.
  • Professional/industrial experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal electronics is highly desirable.
  • Holding a Professional Engineering license or a USCG license as a marine engineering officer is also very desirable

Highly qualified individuals not holding a Ph.D. may be considered for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position.

 Additional Information:

The Assistant or Associate Professor position will be a tenure-track, academic year appointment. Initial appointment will be for a fixed term of one or two years, with one to three-year extensions possible by mutual consent. Compensation includes a full benefits package in accordance with the contract between the State University of New York and United University Professionals. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Classification/Salary Range: Assistant/Associate Professor 10-Month is a UUP Position. This will be a tenure track, academic year appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications along with an outstanding UUP Benefits Summary package.

Special Notes: This is a full-time academic year appointment UUP position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Review of application to commence immediately.
