Gordon College seeks a full-time one-year Assistant or Associate Professor of Music for the 2022-23 academic year who has expertise in the areas of orchestral and band conducting. Candidates must also display a broad range of skills that will allow them to contribute to the Department of Music across a variety of course offerings, in support of both the College's liberal arts curriculum and its well-respected music program.
The Gordon College Department of Music is comprised of 5 full-time faculty members and over 25 adjunct and part-time faculty members - many of whom are outstanding educators and renowned performers. The Department offers four music degrees that are accredited by NASM: Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Arts in Music, Master of Music in Music Education; concentrations in Composition and Music in Worship; and a Music Minor. Additionally, hundreds of non-music majors participate in the music program through choral and instrumental ensembles and Core music classes. The Department of Music is housed in the state-of-the-art Phillips Music Center.
The music program at Gordon College is one that emphasizes whole musicianship, rigorous musical and academic training, and provides a nurturing environment in which our students can fully realize their God-given potential. Graduates of the Gordon College Department of Music serve in the public, charter and private schools as music teachers, attend reputable graduate schools and conservatories for performance and music education, perform in professional orchestras, teach in private music studios, and work in the fields of music administration, music therapy and church worship. The Music Education program at Gordon has had a 100% teacher placement rate for all graduates seeking positions for more than 15 years.
