Job Description

The School of Marine and Environmental Programs (SMEP) at the University of New England seeks a full-time, nine-month Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Marine Sciences for the 2022-23 academic year. The successful candidate will join an energetic, dedicated, and productive group of faculty with expertise across in marine and environmental sciences, marine affairs, environmental studies, and geographic information systems. The start date for this position is August 22, 2022.

The successful candidate will teach lecture and/or laboratory course for first- and second-year students in marine programs. The candidate may also be assigned to teach Introduction to Environmental Awareness, a first-year course required of all College of Arts and Sciences students. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be invited to participate in curriculum assessment; academic advising; recruiting; and service to the school, college, and University.

A master's or doctoral degree in marine science, marine biology, biology, oceanography, environmental science or a related discipline is required by the time of appointment. Candidates with undergraduate teaching experience are preferred.
