Assistant or Associate Professor of History

Summary of Position:    Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time position of Assistant or Associate Professor in European or U. S. history. Period, region, and specialization are open, but candidates with expertise in the Atlantic world, Latin America, or public history are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to combine engaged teaching with scholarly endeavors. All candidates must be dedicated to liberal learning and the integration of faith and learning within an evangelical, Wesleyan Christian perspective.

The Division of Social Sciences provides leadership in political science, economics, and history for the general education program of the College of Arts and Sciences on the Marion campus. The division offers the following majors: economics, history, international relations, political science, political science pre-law, social studies, and social studies education.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to teach undergraduate survey courses, with potential topics including World Civilizations, American history and contemporary history
• Ability to teach upper division undergraduate courses either in European or American history, depending on the candidate's field of specialization
• Engagement with scholarship in the candidate's field and a program of scholarly research
• Ability to contribute to student advising, curricular development, and assessment within the Division of Social Sciences
• Willingness to engage in university and community service
• This position is onsite but with the possibility of teaching an online course

Education

• Ph.D. (or ABD) in History

Experience

• Undergraduate teaching experience is desired

* Knowledge and skills in relation to the appropriate field
* Competence in teaching, along with a willingness to improve
* Desire to connect with students both in and out of the classroom and invest in their personal development and spiritual formation
