Essential Job Duties and
The department of Psychology and Sociology seeks applicants for Assistant Professor Positions for undergraduate course instruction and possible graduate course instruction. In addition, faculty will also advise students, engage in scholarship, and participate in departmental, university, and community activities. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours with the option of supplementing research hours obtained through grant participation for teaching instruction hours
The department is the second largest program in the College of Arts and Sciences with 200 plus majors. The department has a strong research relationship with the University's Research Center Minority Institutions (RCMI), U54 Cancer Research Partnership, International Public Policy Doctoral (IPPD) Program and other programs that offer multiple opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations.
Candidates must possess a doctorate in Sociology or related fields of Human Behavior and Relations, the subfield is flexible (Anthropology, Criminology, Stratification, Social Methodology, Social Psychology and Theology). However, candidates must have an earned doctorate with teaching and research interests applicable to Research Methods, Social Issues, and Health Care broadly defined and a demonstrated commitment to continued scholarly development. Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching/research experience.
The salary is commensurate with education, training and experience.
