Education, Minimum Training and Experience Required

A Ph.D. in Mass Communication/Broadcast or extraordinary experience in the industry with the appropriate Master's degree. Evidence of research, grant writing, and publication, or experience in digital media/production is beneficial for consideration. Teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution of higher education is desirable.

Job Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and teach a broad range of mass communication courses by teaching both graduate and/or undergraduate courses, as needed
  • Advise mass communication majors on curriculum and other academic matters; including registration and monitor progress of the students toward their degrees
  • Be able to use technology to teach classes by utilizing Canvas, Smart Board, Avid Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and Apple Logic Pro
  • Assist the department head with student recruitment and retention effort
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities
  • Assist in curriculum development reviews and preparation for affirmation of accreditation
  • Serve and provide assistance on all committees are assigned whether it be on a departmental, college, and/or university committee
  • Attend university functions such as faculty meetings, convocations, commencements and participate in other official university functions when requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
