Position Summary or Faculty Qualifications
The Department of Teacher Education at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in STEM Education for the 2022-2023 academic year. Primary responsibilities will focus on working with department colleagues to build vibrant and sustainable programs of study leading to PA teaching certification in STEM subjects and STEM endorsement at the graduate and undergraduate levels within the context of a Jesuit institution committed to a broad-based liberal arts education. Additional responsibilities will focus on working with the department and graduate office to direct the graduate program.Duties and Responsibilities
Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Teacher Education at SJU require teaching 4 undergraduate/graduate courses each semester (8 courses total taught in fall and spring). However, this current position will teach three courses in STEM education and instructional techniques each semester and contribute the equivalent of one course each semester by directing the graduate program, advising graduate students, and advancing STEM programs related to PDE certification and endorsements. The one-course reduction per semester (6 courses total for fall and spring) is for directing the graduate programs in teacher education which include all certification and non-certification programs as well as degree and non-degree programs in teacher education. Duties include advising all graduate students in the department, maintaining advising records, providing the graduate office with guidance on admissions into graduate programs, service to the department, STEM and other PDE related program development and evaluation, leading accreditation for certification programs, helping with marketing and recruitment at the graduate level, representing the department/program in schools and professional forums. Summer stipend is available for directing the graduate program in summer from May 15 to August 15.Minimum Requirements
