Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor

Penn State New Kensington invites applications for a faculty position in statistics and data analytics to begin August 2023. This is a full-time, non-tenure-line appointment at the rank of either lecturer (for those who hold a master's degree) or assistant teaching professor (for those who hold a doctorate degree).

The initial appointment will be for three years and may be renewed dependent upon programmatic needs and adequate performance.

Qualifications: A master's degree in business administration, management and information systems, or a closely related field is required for appointment as lecturer, and a PhD in those fields is required for appointment at the rank of assistant teaching professor. ABD candidates will be appointed to the rank of lecturer until the PhD is in hand. One year of prior college-level teaching experience is also required.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to demonstrate expertise in business data analytics. Teach course in introductory statistics as well as upper-level courses in business/data analytics for our B.S. degree in business (typically twelve credit hours each semester). Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment will be expected, as will an interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.


Penn State New Kensington is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses located across the Commonwealth. Our 70-acre campus in scenic, rural Westmoreland County is situated only 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, and the location offers a wide range of lifestyles from urban to rural. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 600 students. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 10 baccalaureate degrees and 5 associate degrees. Our students receive a world-class education delivered in a small-campus setting and have opportunities to participate in undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members.
