The School of Nursing at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a 12-month, fixed-term faculty position in the School of Nursing. The anticipated beginning work date is August 1, 2022. Rank will either be at the Instructor or Assistant Professor of Practice level.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire. The position will be funded by HCA/Mission Hospital and is an initial 1-year appointment that is renewable at the discretion of campus leadership for up to 5 years starting fiscal year 2023 (contingent upon continued funding availability).
The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills, and based on their expertise, clinical, and research expertise, his/her primary responsibilities may include but is not limited to classroom, online and clinical/laboratory teaching. If desired and appropriate, teaching across the curriculum and programs is a possibility for the candidate. Other responsibilities include service on committees and participation in official activities of the School, College, and University.
WCU SON is fully accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The WCU SON programs are located on the Cullowhee campus, housed in the state of the art Health Sciences building, and at the Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville, North Carolina, with clinical sites across the region in both rural and urban settings.
An earned Master's degree in Nursing.
An earned doctoral degree in Nursing, national certification as an advanced practice nurse, and 1-2 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in nursing.
