Wesleyan University's Department of American Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Native North American History beginning July 1, 2023. We particularly welcome applications from scholars who employ the methods of Native American and Indigenous Studies, including comparative and transregional approaches. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong research agenda and broad teaching interests. In addition to their areas of expertise, the candidate should be prepared to teach courses in Native American history from the European colonial era through the 20th century and Introduction to Native American Studies. The teaching load is 2/2. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level. Ph.D. in Native American Studies, American Studies, History or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Native American Studies, American Studies, History or related field within one year of hire.Additional Information
