Position Information for Posting

Position Introduction	MCC's Office of Marketing and Public Relations is looking for a skilled Marketing Specialist with a positive attitude to manage projects and assist with marketing outreach on a high functioning team. This role works to serve all departments of the college to increase enrollment, promote classes and events, and increase brand awareness.
Position Summary	High-performing marketing team member responsible for developing, scheduling, and managing projects through various marketing channels, including print, media, web, social, video, radio, and television.
Reports to	Executive Director of Marketing and Creative Services
Essential Functions and Responsibilities	Create and manage an annual editorial calendar that coordinates content and content delivery across various marketing channels, including: print; media; web; social; video; radio; and television Oversee the details and execution of all radio, print, and on-hold messaging contracts Provide promotional, media, and technical writing, and editing support, with the ability to adjust quickly between these styles Responsible for media planning/media buys that align with department and college goals and strategies Demonstrate an understanding of project management methodology and utilize project management concepts and resources in executing daily work, including consistent use of department project management tool Help manage press inquiries, track and report media coverage on a monthly basis Monitor effectiveness of college perception through media coverage Assist Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Development with media outreach, as needed Manage photo library of assets, obtaining photo and/or video documentation of events as needed; identify appropriate photos for publications and other communication and marketing materials; manage the process for obtaining original photos Provide digital photography support (requires experience with digital photography) Provide video production support, including script writing and on-set interview facilitation Support a variety of publications, including email blasts, text messages, newsletters, and reports Promote McHenry County College through the active development and distribution of information about College programs, services, facilities, events, personnel, alumni, and students Provide writing support for internal/employee communications Assist in departmental and college event planning, including setting up and tearing down Provide online newsroom support to stay current with latest publicity and press coverage Manage email and text distribution lists Oversee scheduling and deployment of critical email and texting campaigns and email distribution media lists Develop and manage a testimonial repository; schedule and conduct interviews for students, alumni, faculty, and community/business testimonials; and create all testimonial content Demonstrate the ability to approach complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions Create and manage annual schedule of community/business expo participation, coordinate volunteer participation, coordinate materials and promotional items Support the Executive Director of Marketing and Creative Services with campus outreach, including developing and maintaining relationships with departments Assist with translation support of promotional content Assist in other facets of internal and external communications as necessary Demonstrate consistent project management experience Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Education	Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications	Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Journalism discipline Five years of professional experience in a related field Strong project management experience Experience conducting event outreach Experience working with email and texting communication systems Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and political acumen Bilingual communication and writing skills in Spanish
Desired Qualifications	Experience in writing and outreach in a higher education environment Expertise in writing for various media channels/venues, including social media
Skills and Specifications	Knowledge of all aspects of marketing, including project management, media planning/buys, editorial Strong writing, editing, and proofreading ability Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and political acumen Technically savvy Working knowledge of digital photography Thorough knowledge of marketing, communications, public relations, and outreach, especially in a higher education setting Strategic thinker, able to conceptualize project parameters and execute against an approved project creative strategy Active collaborator, skilled at working as a member of an integrated marketing team Detail-orientation and solid organizational ability High degree of creativity Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to quickly learn technological applications Ability to see, including color and texture perception Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to assist with paper and promotional deliveries Commitment and respect for diversity and the MCC Behaviors of Excellence Commitment to the College mission, vision, values, and goals Ability to perform all of the essential functions, skills and specifications of the position
