Position Introduction
McHenry County College (MCC) seeks a dynamic individual to champion its On-Track program. The newly designed and soon-to-launch On-Track program is a degree program using designed pathways and proactive support enabling working students to complete their degree in a convenient and manageable way. On-Track is an ideal option for busy people interested in achieving their college and career goals in a helpful setting. This new Coordinator will have the unique opportunity make their mark on this new program and lead its growth.
As the program's main point-of-contact, the Coordinator will be instrumental in building and growing the program, recruiting students, and then supporting those students throughout their journey during this cohort-based program. Therefore, the ideal candidate is a self-starter, well-organized, committed to student success, enjoys recruiting students and attending recruiting events, able to prioritize and multi-task, is a strong communicator, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Position Summary
The Coordinator of On-Track will provide daily direction to the On-Track Program, which is a degree program designed for busy working professionals. The Coordinator will lead student recruitment and retention efforts for the program, develop and promote On-Track workshops for students, coordinate with academic stakeholders and campus marketing, and advise students within the program.
Reports to Director of Student Success
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead student recruitment for the On-Track program, including communication with perspective students, hosting informational sessions, and representing the program at recruitment events
- Initiate and maintain regular communication with On-Track program stakeholders, including collaboration with academic programs on short and long-term course needs, maintaining ongoing positive partnerships with faculty, promoting partnerships with community groups and area employers, and proposing creative collaborations with Student Affairs offices
- Provide daily direction to On-Track staff
- Develop, promote, and facilitate workshops and events designed to support On-Track students with academic success, career readiness, and a sense of belonging at MCC
- Manage and mentor a caseload of assigned On-Track students through appreciative, positive, and responsive relationships, proactively monitoring student progress toward academic and career goals, intervening as necessary
- Assist students via scheduled appointments, drop-in visits, and correspondence
- Assist students in gaining or improving the critical skills needed for success including goal setting, development of study skills, time management, and balancing the demands of college with work and life.
- Coordinate with the Office of Marketing and Public Relations (OMPR) on the development and distribution of marketing materials, such as brochures, website, flyers, etc.
- Coordinate with transcript evaluators to ensure On-Track students have met graduation requirements
- Administer the course registration for On-Track students
- Maintain accurate files for On-Track students including course sequence plans and correspondence
- Monitor the program budget. Coordinate ordering of, and budgeting for, supplies and other program needs
- Collect, report, and maintain data on On-Track students, student satisfaction, courses, and cohorts, providing regular updates on student enrollment, retention, and graduation.
- Coordinate the On-Track program application process and manage student waiting lists
- Conceptualize, implement, and assess retention initiatives
- Coordinate with students, faculty department chairs, and appropriate administrators regarding student issues
- Assist in general new student on-boarding, including participation in New Student Orientation (NSO) events
- Provide student advising support to the Advising Center as needed
- Participate in MCC committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities as assigned
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Two years of experience in education or a related field
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- One-year experience working within a higher education setting
- Bilingual; Spanish speaking and writing skills
