The Senior Director of OAPED/Science Programs at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies is responsible for leading and directing academic programs for professionals and academics in the science and healthcare industries. The Director's responsibilities fall within two major functional categories:
The Director is responsible for leadership and engagement related to an existing and growing portfolio of self-funded MAS and MS degree programs through OAPED. This senior-level position serves as a consultant and expert on matters related to the administration of graduate degree programs within the UC environment and represents Extension with UCSD faculty, the Dean of Graduate Studies, graduate program directors, and other internal and external units. The Director also cultivates and stewards external interest to promote and grow programs. The current portfolio of courses and programs is significant and growing, and includes existing graduate degree programs in Drug Development and Product Management, and Clinical Research.
The Director is responsible for leading and directing a portfolio of non-degree, professional development certificates and programs in the Sciences. The Director will develop and cultivate productive relationships with employers, faculty, and recognized authorities in this field, and will lead efforts to develop new programs, particularly in the priority area of Therapeutic Discovery and Development, to meet the lifelong learning needs of industry professionals.

Special Conditions of Employment
NOTE: This position is a year-round appointment coinciding with the July 1 to June 30 fiscal year. The initial appointment will be two years (or less to coincide with the applicable June 30 end date), and eligible for 24-month reappointments thereafter, subject to academic review.
