Position Introduction
McHenry County College seeks an individual with strong leadership, management and coordination experience as our Director of College and Career Readiness. This position is critical to the continued success of the dual credit and P-20 initiatives of MCC implemented in collaboration with the local high schools to provide career and/or accelerated pathways for high school students. MCC is a comprehensive, public, Associate-degree granting institution located in Crystal Lake, Illinois. MCC is known throughout the community and the Illinois Community College System for its exceptional faculty and staff, the quality of its programs and services, and the success of its students. Position Summary
The Director of College and Career Readiness will lead MCC's efforts in partnering with our local high schools and will champion post-secondary education and pathways for our students. The Director will collaborate with high school counselors and principals and MCC faculty and academic administration to help shape innovative programs and services. Being the voice for K-12 partnerships, the Director serves on the academic administrative team and assist the College in reaching strategic goals by aligning division operations within the College.
Reports to Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and oversight for planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive programming and services within the P-20 Career and College Readiness program
- Collaborate with local high schools and develop and maintain partnerships that lead to academic pathways for students to attend MCC
- Provide leadership and oversee coordination with credit programs to develop transition and career pathways
- Champion all dual enrollment initiatives amongst the academic divisions
- Collect and monitor data for program connections to schools as well as monitor the quality of connected programs
- Work with the Office of Institutional Research in the program review process to ensure that all programs complete program review and annual program plans
- Supervise the personnel function for the division to include, hiring, monitoring and implementing the evaluation process and monitoring compliance with the union bargaining agreements of the college for designated staff
- Provide leadership to the development and administration of the annual division budget and the institutional planning activities in all assigned areas
- Initiate and provide support for new divisional initiatives especially as they integrate with strategic planning and enrollment management
- Act as the appropriate liaison to state coordinating boards, workforce and economic development agencies, organizations, legislators, and institutions relative to division programs
- Skill in communicating effectively with others including making oral and written presentations
- Provide leadership for planning, organizing, supporting and implementing comprehensive programming in academic services
- Serve on various College committees
- Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
- Support and participate in the College's commitment to continuous improvement
Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Five years' experience in a public education setting as a teacher, counselor, administrator or closely related position in college and career preparation programs
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Community college administration experience
- Knowledge, or willingness to learn, curriculum from the high school and college level

Skills and Specifications
- Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures, regarding career and technical education.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Knowledge of current educational principles, practices and procedures in program development, staff training, instruction and assessing program needs in career and technical education.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to grow with technology and philosophical directions implemented by the College
- Ability to lead and work effectively with community members, faculty, staff, and students
- Strategic planning ability
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to negotiate contracts
- Ability to lead and work effectively with division team to develop goals and objectives
