Position Introduction
Orientation Student Leaders (OSLs) play an important and meaningful role in the transition process of our new students. They have the front-line responsibility of welcoming new MCC students to the College and are an important part of making orientation and the transition to college exciting and enjoyable.
Position Summary
Training will be end of APRIL 2022

The Orientation Student Leader position welcomes new students to the MCC campus during New Student Orientations, and other college events. OSLs help facilitate the new student transition by providing information about MCC's programs, events, and resources. As an OSL, students will make a positive impact on the MCC community and develop great leadership and resume-building skills in the process.
Reports to Coordinator of Orientation and Academic Advisor
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Including but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate and participate in the New Student Orientation programs, including on-campus orientations and welcome events
  • Execute preparation for all New Student Orientation programming, including, but not limited to phone calls, data entry, organization of materials, and marketing
  • Guide students through orientation activities, lead students on campus tours, and lead presentations
  • Become familiar with MCC degree and course information, campus resources, and assist students during registration
  • Serve as a role model and representative of MCC and set a positive example for new students
  • Follow all college policies and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and respect
Required Education High School Graduate or equivalent plus specialized training
Other Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current MCC college student. Students who will be graduating in spring term immediately preceding this summer may also apply
  • Minimum of one semester completed at MCC or in progress at the time of application
  • Knowledge and positive attitude of MCC
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week throughout position term
  • Work will take place from April to August with a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Participation in a combination of Orientation Programs, student office hours, and staff meetings
  • Attendance and participation in all Orientation Student Leader training(s) is required
Desired Qualifications
  • Leadership and/or involvement experience (MCC or community activities)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills
