Typical Work Schedule
0-15 Hours - Early August through May to align with the athletic contest schedules (Primarily Tuesdays/Thursdays, afternoons/evenings, plus an occasional Saturday or other days pending home athletic contest schedules). Flexibility needed to work specific days and times as necessary.

Position Introduction
Serving in a marketing role, the Sports Information Assistant promotes the college, athletic department, and each individual team.
Position Summary
Qualified candidate will seek out opportunities to highlight stories associated with the College's sports programs, coaches, players, and staff. Is knowledgeable of rules and statistics for each sports program.
Reports to Director of Athletics. This position will collaborate heavily with the Office of Marketing and Public Relations
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Attend home college athletic competitions, write game reports and take photos for social media and college athletics webpage
- Post-game day announcements on social media
- Post live game day updates/scores/photos/video on social media
- Write feature stories, pre-season and post-season write-ups for teams for college athletics website and E-newsletter
- Arrange team photographs, post for college athletics website
- Design and implement social media posts with team/individual action pictures and in collaboration with OMPR
- Design and write promotional materials including brochures, flyers, media guides and videos and in collaboration with OMPR
- Design and develop weekly athletic department update on YouTube "Purple Pride Review" and in collaboration with OMPR
- Provide assistance in development and implementation of final year athletic department celebration and award night "Scotspys"
- Develop and maintain appropriate contacts with the local media to better achieve publication and/or coverage of college athletic contests and student-athlete/team success
- Work collaborative with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- One year of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in related field, such as public relations, marketing, journalism, or event planning
- Demonstrated knowledge of wide variety of college-level team sports or previous work experience in an athletics department
Skills and Specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of computer desktop publishing and social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Ability to learn technological applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organization
- Self-motivated, reliable, able to work independently and in cooperation with others
- Maturity, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and a professional disposition
- Interpersonal and communication skills
