Position Introduction
McHenry County College seeks an individual with strong leadership and management experience as our new Director of Enterprise Applications. This position is critical to the future success of the college's utilization of the Colleague ERP system and related integrations. The Director would be tasked with leading an in-house team and managing vendor support relationships to ensure high customer service levels while also leading mission-based initiatives to strengthen the quality and breadth of services offered by the Enterprise Applications team.
Position Summary
Lead the team responsible for developing, supporting maintaining, and extending the College's enterprise and administrative systems. Provide software application development when needed to achieve high levels of system availability, usability, security, and client service. Plan and develop new solutions based on analysis of the needs of the College. Serve as the campus leader in the effective use of administrative systems and other software application technologies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Define objectives, set priorities, and perform technical duties that drive successful project completion and align with the College's strategic planning goals
- Meet and work closely with College department and division leaders to identify and deliver effective and efficient software technology processes and systems to maximize the use of the technology and improve business and operational efficiencies
- Support implementation and integration of the ERP system (Colleague) with third-party software, systems, and end-user tools
- Lead and support the technical implementation, integration, and operation of administrative systems and the online employee portal as part of a comprehensive, integrated web presence in conjunction with the Office of Marketing and Public Relations
- Provide structured requirements definition processes for new system development based on the needs of the College. Includes performance of analytical strategies to expose current data needs of the College and defining solution development steps to address the needs
- Work with other College departments to assess and develop new reporting mechanisms to assist in the communication of internal performance metrics and external state-required reporting requirements
- Plan and lead the scheduled testing and upgrade processes and ensure team communication and collaboration
- Coordinate with the other Information Technology departments to provide comprehensive and integrated software and database technology support for the College
- Maintain and oversee management of the College's comprehensive data environment to ensure reliability, consistency, and protection of mission-critical data
- Project management and oversight for large-scale software development projects
- Identify the problems preventing the advancement of College software systems and develop remedies to these problems or seek assistance to resolve the problems
- Establish/enforce software programming/development standards
- Monitor the operation of the administrative ERP systems for performance, integrity, and security
- Collaboratively develop and implement a software systems development plan as part of the entire information technology strategic planning process in accordance with IT Strategies and Tactics
- Prepare and administer the Enterprise Applications department budget
- Manage departmental professional development efforts to develop and maintain a quality organization of technically talented and service-oriented staff
- Analyze and recommend policies, procedures, and well-defined strategies to insure the smooth flow of information and records throughout the system
- Create, maintain, and update a library of departmental policies and procedures for audit purposes
- Recommend and coordinate software and system upgrades to improve performance/integrity/security of the administrative systems and services
- Develop and maintain vendor and consultant relationships related to both existing and proposed software solutions, including evaluation and recommendation of vendor software packages and tools
- Provide input as to the feasibility of new systems and enhancements and assist with the creation of detailed design, timetables, and procedures for new systems
- Assume key role in the College's CORE committee
- Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in MIS, Information Science, or related field
- Seven to ten years of high-level experience in administrative systems or ERP systems
- Supervisory and budgetary experience
Desired Qualifications
- Community college or other higher ed experience preferred
- Diversified experience with academic administrative systems is preferred
- Technical programming and database certifications

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and community members
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
