| Position Introduction |
The Network Specialist is a critical role within the Infrastructure team, charged with ensuring the security of, and access to, all network-related services. As the Network Specialist, you will have the opportunity to help ensure that network services are available, secure, and well managed. You will join a team of people dedicated to the success of MCC students and employees.

| Position Summary |
Provide fundamental network infrastructure administrative duties and maintain network security. Perform preventive maintenance on multiple computer platform environments. Provide support and assist Network Technicians. Configure, maintain and secure the College's wireless network. Manage SAN/NAS drive assignments and mapping.

| Essential Functions and Responsibilities |
- Add/update/maintain network user accounts and user profiles
- Monitor the performance of nightly, weekly, and monthly computer data backup
- Install, repair, and maintain server and microcomputer peripheral equipment
- Provide assistance and application training to other IT staff concerning network systems or other related applications
- Develop timely network documentation
- Provide timely feedback concerning installation/repair requests to end-users
- Assist with network security maintenance at the direction of senior network infrastructure staff
- Assist with the maintenance of Wireless Access Points
- Maintain and update network infrastructure map
- Manage departmental mapped drive access
- When needed, provide Tier 2 technical network support to the Call Center
- Assist with the planning and implementation of the network technical architecture
- Perform routine switch configuration and maintenance
- Assist with Virtual Private Network (VPN) design and implementation
- Assist with VLAN design and configuration
- Assist with virus outbreak containment, quarantine, and removal
- Monitor systems logs and escalate problems as needed
- Monitor and manage virus and spam filters
- Attend and contribute to weekly departmental meetings
- Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
- Additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

| Required Education | Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the equivalent combination of related training and education. |
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Associate's degree from a regionally-accredited institution in Computer Information Systems or related discipline required; or equivalent job related experience
- Two years' experience with the following:
o Supporting a medium to large size network environment
o Supporting a TCP/IP network infrastructure environment
o Supporting microcomputer hardware and software systems
o Windows 10, Windows 2012 - 2019 Server, Macintosh 10.x operating systems preferred
