Continuing Lecturer in Special Education and Gifted, Creative, and Talented

 

Job Description

The Department of Educational Studies (www.edst.purdue.edu) at Purdue University invites applications for a 10-month Continuing Lecturer position in Special Education and Gifted, Creative, and Talented to begin August 2022. In this position, the faculty member will be expected to teach a 4/4 load of courses in our undergraduate programs, with course coordination and field supervision components. EDPS 20001 seminar is intended to be a Professional Learning Community (PLC) for teacher education majors.  The goal of the seminar is to connect theory to practice by engaging in a field experience that connects to content and courses taken concurrently.  This seminar is intended to be taken concurrently with The Inclusive Classroom, Positive Behavior Supports, and Differentiating Curriculum and Instruction.  In addition, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to faculty service requirements. Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  1. Hold a Master’s degree in special education, gifted, creative, and talented, or a closely related field
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in P-12 settings
  3. Experience directly working with students in special education, and/or students with gifts and talents
  4. A record of teaching excellence.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Record of coordinating with a variety of school personnel
  2. Experience preparing and/or coaching/supervising in-service and/or pre-service teachers
  3. Expertise in multiple areas of education content (e.g., differentiation of instruction, inclusive pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), culturally responsive teaching)
  4. Experience teaching in higher education
