NOTE: This is a 12 month temporary (with possibility) to hire permanent position

Job Summary:

The IT Development Operations Engineer will demonstrate superb technical and automation competency, leading the projects related to D’Youville Websites and Domains, University Data Automation, and Development Quality Assurance. Qualified DevOps Engineers will have a background in IT, Project Management, Security and Systems Engineering, Development and Release Lifecycles, and Data Analysis.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
  • Primary Development lead on several projects related to D’Youville University Website
  • Upgrade, Domain Migration, and Blockchain Automation
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers and leadership
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
  • Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
  • Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions
  • Other job duties as assigned

  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant experience
  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role
  • Proficient with git and git workflows
  • Experience with: Good knowledge of Ruby or Python
  • Experience in CMS systems a plus (Modern Campus, Drupal, WordPress)
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL
  • Problem Solving & Multi-tasking are essential for this role
  • Proven working experience in working in Windows, UNIX /Linux based environments.
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., HTML, PowerShell/Windows, Linux/Unix)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

Required Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED Bachelor’s Degree or higher from Accredited College or University OR Equivalent Professional Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Experience with software engineering, website design and implementation, project management
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) and Domain Architecture

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years IT DevOps Engineer Support (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years’ experience with Customer Service Skills/Project Management Skills
  • 3+ years Automation and Development Experience
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
