Job Description
The Department of Global Studies and Languages at Idaho State University invites applications for a remote visiting, full time, fully online position at the Assistant Professor or Assistant Lecturer level to begin in August of 2022. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal (up to 3 years) based on performance and departmental needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching 2-3 online courses during the Fall, Spring, & Summer semesters in a combination of Spanish language and Latin American literature and culture and/or U.S. Latinx literature and culture at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Course load varies depending on appointment as VAP or VAL)
- Advising undergraduate and graduate students in the Spanish program
- Participating in Spanish program curriculum development
- Participating in Spanish program assessment and, for the VAP, evidence of ongoing scholarly engagement
Minimum Qualifications
- Visiting Assistant Lecturer: ABD in Latin American literature
- Visiting Assistant Professor: PhD in Latin American literature in hand by July 31st, 2022
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and in English
- Experience teaching Spanish language, composition, conversation, and Latin American/U.S. Latinx literature and culture in Spanish
- Must reside in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in hand by July 31st, 2022
- Specialist in Latin American literature and culture
- Ability to teach U.S. Latinx Literature and culture
- Experience with online delivery of courses in Spanish
Additional Information

Salary will be between $42,000 and $50,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
