Essential Functions (Job Duties) The Wayne State
University Law School is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor (Clinical). We encourage applications from candidates who will enhance the
diversity of our faculty and whose scholarship engages with questions of social justice.
The Assistant Professor (Clinical) would
direct, teach, & supervise the Business and Community Law Clinic (BCLC), a six-credit clinic that provides transactional legal services to
small businesses, social enterprises, and non-profit organizations in the Detroit metropolitan area. Develop curriculum & materials for
BCLC; teach seminar class for BCLC; implement clinic procedures, policies, & case management systems; supervise student casework; promote
BCLC regionally & nationally. Engage in service to the law school and the University.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a JD from an accredited American law school and three years of law-related employment after law
school.
Preferred qualifications include three or more years of transactional practice, one or more year of experience as a clinical
teacher, fellow, or staff attorney, and membership in the State Bar of Michigan or eligibility for admission without
examination.
Prior teaching experience is also a plus.
