Position Description
The Vice President for Advancement at Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) will be responsible for strengthening relationships with external and internal constituents through stewardship, communications, media relations, social media, marketing, alumni relations, special events and other programs. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an evolving leadership team and play a central role in enhancing the visibility and fundraising capabilities of an amazing institution. The VP will build a development operation to advance the College's fundraising program to the next level and ensure that all outreach, marketing, communications, and development strategies support growth and long-term financial stability. The individual will direct the overall operational strategies and efforts to promote a culture of philanthropy and the institutional core values and historic identity to support the College's mission and vision. The VP will be expected to develop and implement comprehensive strategies for Advancement and the Foundation, build the operational infrastructure and capacity to increase market reach, enhance the student access and experience, and improve affordability. The position also has responsibility for the College's radio station (91.5 WBJC) and will collaborate on strategic outreach efforts and approaches to effectively benefit both the College and its constituent/listening audience. Reporting directly to the President of the College, the VP is expected to use extraordinary judgement and reflect the highest degree of personal and professional integrity.

The successful candidate will be innovative, strategic and share a commitment to the mission and values of the College and the Foundation. The individual should be a strong starter with the creative confidence and spirit to bring and develop new approaches. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; an advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership as a senior level and performance driven advancement professional in higher education is also preferred (college advancement, foundations, marketing and communications, and/or alumni relations); must show a demonstrated record of leadership and accomplishments in advancement with a proven track record of fundraising/gift success, campaign planning and major gift solicitations from individuals and organizations; possess the ability to work collaboratively and build a local network of relationships with key constituents; possess well-developed public speaking, writing and campaign communication skills; demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, diplomacy and integrity to build and maintain trusting relationships with staff, volunteers and donors; possess a strong motivation to meet goals and increase capital, major, annual and planned giving; capacity to support and grow the College's branding initiatives; possess energy and creative ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop solutions to complex problems in a fast-paced environment; and be comfortable helping to lead and set the tone for "a new day" and operating within a culture of change.
