Instructor or Lecturer, Mass Media
The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer in Mass Media anticipated to begin August 2022.
The successful candidate will contribute to the missions in the Journalism and/or Media Production and Management programs through teaching at the undergraduate level and, depending on the highest degree attained, may teach at the graduate level, and support the Film MFA degree by providing critiques, mentoring, and serving on graduate thesis committees. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester and participate in school and university service, including committee work.
A master’s degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (for a lecturer) in Journalism, Media Production, Film, Radio Television, or a related Mass Communication field from an accredited institution is required by the time of hire. In addition, the successful candidate will provide evidence of professional accomplishment in journalism and/or media production. Candidates must also have excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative educational environment with faculty, students, and administrators.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of college-level teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: news reporting and writing, magazine/feature writing, news editing, news, sports or entertainment programming, media management, videography, studio production, lighting, editing, production management, audience analysis, media legalities, media ethics, or media history/cultural studies. Additionally, we are especially interested in an individual who can contribute through their research, teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

The NSCM Journalism and Media Production and Management programs offer bachelor’s degrees with tracks in Digital News, Electronic News, Media Production and Media Management.
