Department Summary
The College of Education (COE) is organized into four academic departments and 14 research and outreach centers. All departments include both tenure and career non-tenure-track faculty, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs addressing the full range of issues present in educational and social systems. A range of academic degrees and majors are offered, including communication disorders and sciences, elementary and secondary education, school psychology, counseling psychology, couples and family therapy, special education, education studies, administrators, and research methodologists. As noted in our mission statement, COE faculty, staff, and students are committed to developing and validating programs that prepare scholars and practitioners, while promoting respect for diversity, equitable opportunities, and inclusive environments. The COE is currently ranked 5th among all public institutions, and 14th among all public and private institutions nationally (U.S. News and World Report, 2019). College of Education graduate programs are some of the highest-ranked in the country for both research scholarship and graduate education, including the Educational Leadership, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Special Education Programs.

Our faculty are devoted to inspiring and mentoring the approximately 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students in the COE who will be the next generation of educational and social science leaders.

The purpose of the Academic Affairs unit is to support the curricular work of the college. The College of Education's Academic Affairs team includes the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Assessment, a Data Analyst, and a Licensure Analysts/Student Records Coordinator.

Position Summary
The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations for the College of Education (COE) provides leadership, direction, and oversight of all college assessment activities for the purposes of program development and evaluation, accreditation, and institutional effectiveness; licensure and field services for the purposes of ensuring compliance with university policies and maintaining effective partnerships with external institutions.

The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations leads accreditation activities, including academic program reviews and preparation/submission of required reports, works with administration and faculty to develop policies and procedures, and fosters a "culture of assessment" by working with school constituencies, including but not limited to, chairs and directors, faculty, and university-level officials such as the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations directs and facilitates the work of academic program coordinators and department heads in a manner that ensures program assessment activities are designed, implemented, analyzed, and reported in a manner that is useful for curricular and program improvement. Additionally, the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations also supervises one data analyst. With the support of this analyst, the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations analyzes trends and outcomes and provides information and analysis impacting students, budgets, strategic planning, policy formulation, and enrollment management.

The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations oversees the college's licensure and field services which include establishing and maintaining partnerships with school districts and community agencies. The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations ensures that the university's policies are followed and that programs, such as the University/School Partnership Co-Pay Program, are delivered effectively. These programs are administered with the support of two classified staff members, one focused on licensure and the other on-field placements.

The Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations reports to the Dean of the College of Education. When necessary, the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Academic Operations represents the college at educator preparation meetings locally and nationally including the Oregon Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (OACTE) and the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).

 

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctoral degree with a specialization in assessment, statistics, measurement, testing, program evaluation, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in assessment and research design.
  • Five years of experience in the accreditation processes at the university-wide and academic program-level (e.g.., NWCC, CAEP, APA, COAMFTE, ASHA).
  • Five years of experience with software programs for survey and assessment (e.g., TK-20, Qualtrics) and statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS, JMP, R).
  • Three years of experience with relational databases, learning management, and BI software (e.g., Banner, Canvas, Cognos).
  • Knowledge of educator licensure.
  • Two years of supervision experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of assessment of student learning, academic advising, student success, program evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and statistical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAEP accreditation.
  • Experience with Tk20.
  • Experience with Banner.
  • Experience with learning outcomes management in a learning management system such as Canvas.
