Assistant Professor 10 Months, School of Natural Sciences
DUTIES: Teach undergraduate courses and conduct research in Forensic Science, including Survey of Forensic Science; Crime Scene Investigation; Forensic Criminology; Forensic Lab Techniques; as well as other courses in biology or chemistry. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: course and program assessment, updating the curriculum, developing relationships with graduate programs and employers for our graduates and expanding our internship network. Duties also include academic advising of biology and chemistry majors with the forensic science option.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Doctorate degree (or foreign equivalent) in Criminology, Forensic Science, Forensic Biology or Chemistry, Entomology or a related field; undergraduate teaching experience; research and/or field experience in forensic science; and peer-reviewed scholarly contribution to the discipline are required.
This is a ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignment at the rank of Assistant Professor effective for the Fall 2022 semester, unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for graduate course assignments.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
