Minot State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Mathematics Education who will begin in August 2022.

The teaching load for this position is 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring). The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, maintain an active program of research, and demonstrate a commitment to service within the department, university, community, and discipline. The professor will mentor advisees and provide guidance on their academic pursuits and other endeavors.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science currently includes 9 full-time faculty members and offers majors in mathematics, mathematics education, computer science, and cybersecurity and operations. It also offers a minor in statistics and a graduate certificate in mathematics education for practicing high school teachers.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in mathematics or mathematics education
  • Mathematics teaching experience
  • The ability to teach developmental mathematics at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience utilizing technology and manipulatives with teaching.
  • Demonstrated success in and enthusiasm for teaching
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in either mathematics or mathematics education; ABD candidates will be considered
  • Experience teaching mathematics to elementary education majors
