EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Experience Required
Must have teaching experience at the university level and an active research
Minimum Education Required
Doctorate in Political Science or Government or documented proof of
imminent completion (prior to Fall 2022)
Must be able to teach American Government
courses including (but not limited to): American National Government, Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, Congress, and Judicial Politics.
Must be able to effectively teach in traditional, hybrid, and online formats. Experience with student advising and recruiting is also
Other Preferred Requirements
Will teach a 4-4 course load with the opportunity to teach in
the Nicholls Online degree program as well.
- Teach 12 contact hours of courses. The
instructor is responsible for planning and presenting course material; establishing course objectives and requirements in accordance with
University and program policy and making them known to students; selecting and ordering texts and supplemental materials in accordance with
university and department policy; preparing, administering, and grading assignments; and assigning grades.
- Attend all classes
unless absence is approved by the Department Head. The assistant professor shall evaluate student work with appropriate comments and/or
grades in an accurate and timely manner.
- Hold 10 office hours each week and be generally available to students. Engage in scholarly
research and contribute to the knowledge in the field through publications and presentations. Use the university-designated electronic
delivery system [Moodle] to post grades as required by the University, the course syllabus, and any announcements.
- Service to the
university and department may include recruitment activities, shared governance, committee participation, advising of student organizations,
commencement ceremonies, and meeting all university and department deadlines. The instructor may be asked to perform other acts of service
- Attend all mandatory university and department functions.
