DescriptionGlenville State College is seeking applicants for a full-time position in math
education. Individuals with a commitment to teaching and scholarly excellence are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will have
responsibility for teaching, advising, participating in departmental and college service activities, and participating in professional
development. Individuals with interest in or expertise in curriculum innovation as well as a commitment to teaching in their specialties are
encouraged to apply. Expertise in instructional technology is desirable. The position will begin as early as January 2022, but no later
than August 2022. Appointment will be made either at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Lecturer level, depending upon
qualifications.
THE COLLEGE: Founded in 1872 and located in the heart of scenic, central West Virginia,

Examples of DutiesThe
successful applicant is expected to
- Teach 12 credit hours (4 courses, assistant professor) or 15 credit hours (5 courses, lecturer)
in mathematics/mathematics methods per semester. Courses are dependent on qualifications and background, but will include elementary and
secondary mathematics methods courses and other introductory math courses (e.g., Euclidean Geometry, college algebra).
- Interface
with public school partners to strengthen mathematics education in public schools.
- Supervise teacher candidates on mathematics
education field placements and internships.
- Evaluate and revise curriculum and courses for mathematics and mathematics licensure
granting programs.
- Develop, implement, and engage in professional development activities related to teaching
mathematics.
- Assist with departmental and program assessment, including continued national accreditation for mathematics education
program (CAEP).
- Assist with student recruitment and retention.
Typical QualificationsA masters in
Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or Curriculum and Instruction is required for the lecturer position; a PhD or EdD is required for
appointment as an assistant professor. The successful candidate must have least 18 graduate hours in education and 18 graduate hours in
mathematics. (Courses in math pedagogy are included in both totals.) Experience in public school teaching is
required.
