Job Description

The Communication program at Providence College invites applications for a one-year position as visiting assistant professor in Mass Media and Politics. We welcome applicants who are expert in any subfield related to mass media and political communication. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and/or experience with engaging diverse students in and out of the classroom. 

The position includes competitive salary and benefits, and full research support provided to all faculty members.

The Communication program is a new, interdisciplinary minor program at Providence College. The Political Science Department has thirteen faculty dedicated to effective teaching and scholarship. Essential Duties

This candidate will be expected to teach four courses per semester.  In the fall, those courses will consist of two sections of Introduction to Communication and two sections of an upper-level course in Mass Media and Politics.  In the spring, courses will consist of two sections of Introduction to Communication, and two additional courses to be determined.  

Candidates able to teach an upper-level course in American Electoral and Campaign Communication are also encouraged to apply. 

Education and Experience Required

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, Political Science, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and be able to foster an inclusive, collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
