Job DescriptionThe Master of Social Work (MSW) Program, housed in the Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position for the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor with primary duties in clinical instruction to teach in the online MSW program. Candidates should have a clinical license, extensive experience with online course development, and familiarity with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) core competencies, and accreditation standards. Candidates should also have the knowledge, expertise, and the ability to teach in specialized areas such as medical/ behavioral health incorporating Africentric social work perspectives. Primary responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching in the online MSW program, conducting a research agenda with strong potential for extramural funding, contributing to the development of online courses and accreditation of the MSW program, and providing service to the department, college, University, and community. This appointment begins Fall 2022.
Responsibilities:- Teach assigned courses, advise students, participate in curriculum and program development, serve on committees, actively engage in research and publications.
- Engage in student recruitment, teaching, research and publishing, take on committee assignments at all levels of the University, and provide service to the community and the profession.
- Engage actively in scholarly activities aimed at publication, grant proposal writing, and paper presentations at professional conferences.
Required Education & Experience: - An MSW (Master of Social Work) from a CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) accredited program).
- Earned doctorate in Social Work or related field.
- LMSW Clinical licensure .
- Five years post-MSW practice experience, at least three years of which must be direct clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications: - Online teaching experience (the Candidate must be certified to teach online prior to teaching assignment).
- Online Canvas course development experience
- Licensed in the State of Texas
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
- A record of publication commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant/associate professor and evidence of ongoing research projects
- A record of extramural funding
- Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate levels
- Strong collegial, communication, and collaborative teamwork skills
- Evidence of a relational approach to working with students and colleagues; and
- Knowledge of relevant national accrediting bodies and professional standards, including CSWE accreditation processes.
