The Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Medicine, Clinician-Educator (CE) track.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the excellence of Penn Vet's clinical programs in small animal emergency and critical care medicine, education, research, and service. The candidate will be responsible for didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching of veterinary medical students, participation in patient care, supervision of residents, and continuing education for veterinarians locally and nationally. Primary responsibilities within the hospital will include emergency room receiving, mentorship of house officers, and some supervision of the intensive care unit. Candidates should possess demonstrated excellence in clinical service and teaching as well as a record of or potential to develop a scholarly program that advances their field. This position is part of the School's Standing Faculty. The candidates' primary and driving career interests and goals include scholarly accomplishment in the field, and they fully understand the duties and expectations specific to the CE track. The search committee will share the School's official documents describing the track and criteria for retention and promotion to qualified candidates. Clinician Educators perform the majority of the Department's clinical research, and the successful candidate will demonstrate history or potential with regard to the generation of new knowledge.

The Section of Emergency and Critical Care employs 9 DACVECC-boarded faculty in a Department with more than 30 Diplomates from multiple American and European certifying colleges that are in direct support of the program. There are currently 10 residents enrolled in the ECC residency-training program. The medical team includes a highly trained and experienced professional nursing staff, many of whom are specialty certified in ECC.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a veterinary degree (DVM, VMD) and board certification in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC).
