Under supervision of the Director of Special Programs, the Special Programs Advisor commits to advising students for the Office of Special Programs not limited to the Mayor's Scholars Program, Granville T. Woods Scholars Program, Near-Completers, and program grants. The advisor supports students as they learn about academic expectations and requirements, successful learning strategies, management of personal resources, and navigating college systems. In addition, the special programs advisor develops and implements co-curricular programs and events that engage students and support their abilities to clarify career and/or transfer goals. The advisor provides support for academic advising, career literacy, academic progress, holistic development, and student engagement
Preferred and Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as education, counseling, or academic field directly related to this role.
- Minimum of one year experience as an academic advisor or related academic functions within higher education.
