Job Description


Cardinal Stritch University is currently seeking a qualified candidate for our Kellner College of Education, Literacy, and Leadership. The Academic Program Advisor is responsible for the entire enrollment management process of the student experience from recruitment through graduation. The Academic Program Advisor will report to the Associate Dean of The Kellner College of Education, Literacy, and Leadership.

  • Acts as a liaison, in support of the department chair’, to the department
  • Advocate for students (individually and collectively), in conversations with the business office, financial aid, registrar, etc
  • Confirm completion of graduating students' required course sequences and sign off on all graduation requests
  • Sign off on licensure requests (as provided by Certification Officer) by ensuring that students have completed the appropriate coursework required for eligibility for desired certification/licensure
  • Represents the academic program to prospective students via special events and open houses
  • Attend/organize student orientations
  • Arranges individual and group registration sessions and provides academic counseling
  • Processes students' registrations each semester and adjusts students' schedules as necessary during the University's drop/add period
  • Advise all Department/Program students during the school year and during the summer months
  • Tracks students’ progress throughout the program and ensures compliance with program requirements and benchmarks (e.g. Portfolios)
  • Maintains student database files and advising records for all students
  • Advises students appropriately when program requirements or benchmarks are not met
  • Respond to student inquiries via emails, phone messages, etc., and schedule meetings with students as needed
  • Attends all program, school, and college meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • N/A


  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling or a related field required
  • Master's degree in counseling or education-related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years work-related experience
