Basic Functions

10-Month Tenure Track Position

Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Representative Duties
Provide reference services, teach information literacy instruction and give workshops to educate students about effective library research.

Use a variety of current technologies to develop and deliver library instruction and services, such as online research guides and tutorials.

Advocate for adoption of open educational resources (OER) to promote student learning, equity and success.

Cultivate positive relationships with the campus community to promote library resources and foster awareness about ways the library can serve as an essential partner in facilitating student success.

Participate in outreach to foster students' sense of belonging and inclusion and to connect students with library resources to promote equity and success.

Participate in collection development activities for the evaluation, selection and deselection of print, media and electronic information resources that promote learning success for a diverse student population.

Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and disabilities by showing respect for difference and the dignity of others.

Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment to ensure student, faculty and department success.

Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Participate in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes.

Comply with district policies and procedures in the performance of all duties.

Serve on college committees and participate in staff development activities.


Master's in library science, library and information science, OR the equivalent.

Experience providing reference services and information literacy instruction in an academic or other library.

Strong commitment to cultural competency, diversity, inclusion and experience working in a collaborative environment with a broad range of students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Awareness of community college initiatives that supports student success.

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
